Just got an email from Henry's in Ontario announcing that the 6D can now be ordered at $2099.99. Delivery in 7-14 days. Will be interesting to see it at the Oct. Exposure Show.

According to Canon's press release, "Both configurations are expected to be available in December 2012" so if you get your hands on one in 7-14 days, that IS news.

IF.

and of course we expect a review and pictures :)

You can order the 6D from B&H at - guess what- $2099 as well.. Should I have started another thread ?

Oh, and you can buy the camera it replaces in the marketplace- the 5D II -for $200 less- and it's in stock. That should probably be another pointless thread...

Edit: Oh, and I have absolutely no plans on wasting my money on a 6D.. Go big or go home!

Anyone else see the irony of making pointless posts to complain about pointless threads?
Or is that best described as hypocrisy?

It should have been named 7D mark 2. 6D is supposed to be BETTER than 5D mark III based on the number increments, not lesser in spec quality. Thats a little upside down.

You have that backwards. The numbering goes down. THe smaller the number, the higher in Canon's lineup. Thus, the 6D is appropriately places based on feature set.

Series number. 1Dx is the top of Canon's line. Then the 5Dx line. The 7D (soon to be line hopefully) is their top end crop sensor camera. Then the XXD line, the XXXD line and the XXXXD line. The 6D seems appropriately placed between their top end crop camera and the full frame cameras.

So if your looking at Canon's new camera lineup. 6D -> 5D -> 1D are their full frame offerings. xxxxD -> xxxD -> xxD -> 7D are their crop offerings.
