Well the Mark x is just saying its a newer version, and the xxD series numbering doesn't really apply to the xD series, as the xxD series goes up in number to show the version pretty much like the Mark does.

Definitely no one would have an issue with the 7D mark 2 having spec features of the 6D and the 6D being released a few years from now as a whole new body.But not to blow this simple thing out of the water.
