Well the Mark x is just saying its a newer version, and the xxD series numbering doesn't really apply to the xD series, as the xxD series goes up in number to show the version pretty much like the Mark does.

5D Mark III | Gripped 60D | EOS M | Sigma 30mm f1.4 | Canon 24-70mm f2.8L II | Canon 8-15mm f4L | Canon 50mm f1.8II | Canon 100L | Tamron 150-600mm

There is absolutely no problem in changing that up. Definitely no one would have an issue with the 7D mark 2 having spec features of the 6D and the 6D being released a few years from now as a whole new body. But not to blow this simple thing out of the water. To each his own. You like the classification like that, and thats good for you.

What? It is how canon classifies them. That is like telling someone that has a BMW if they like to to use 525, 535, 545 etc. Then that is good for them. Canon uses a pretty simple product line denomination actually.

Everything is relative.
Gear: 6D, Unholy Trinity:twisted: (24Lii, sigma 50A, 135L), and for the other ends of the spectrum, sigmaEX 14mm2.8 and sigmaEX 100-300F4.
Fuji X-e2, Rokinon 8 2.8 Fisheye II, Fuji 14 2.8, Fuji 18-55, Fuji 23 1.4

Canon hasn't always had this logic either. The first digital EOS that were a little more compact where called D30 and D60, for Digital with 3 and 6 megapixels.
Then they let the successor to D60 be 10D and continued from there.

The only thing that has been constant since 1971 is that Canon's best SLR model have had a 1 in the name, starting with the F-1 and now being the 1DX.

The 1Dx is definitely sweet.
