Hello everyone

[SIZE=2]Hope you all had a great xmas (and hopefully stuffed yourselfs with all shorts of foods) , well time for relaxing and a few indegestion tablets.:lol::lol:

Xmas eve i spend it up north (Scotland) and i had an amazing time, the weather was absolutely awesome (for a change) and the water on the Lochs (lakes) was like glass.

I ended up with some nice (hope, not PP`d yet) photos wich i will try to upload them in the near future.

I will start with what turned up to be a challenging (i had to walk and climb through all kind of things *&%**"&**) and rewarding place to be...

[SIZE=4]Kilchurn Castle

[SIZE=2]When the castle was first built in 1693(there is a stone curved above the main door) , i suppose the people were wellcomed there by the battler or someone of the castle stuf .
Well in my case (and i should consider my self lucky) i was wellcomed by a sheep (and not a bull).

[SIZE=3]This guy kept looking at me,maybe noone is aloud there but hey, what the heck,i went all the way there on xmas eve and i wouldn`t go near the castle?
I DON`T THINK SO.

[SIZE=2]A bit fearther down and right next (on the side) of the castle there is a small pier (jetty, whatever) because in the summer months they are running a small steamboat service there for the tourists.

Perfect spot for my shot , although i had to be very still so my tripod wouldn`t be rocked bu the movement of my body.
A few attempts and finally got the best shot.

Somehow it seemed to be scaffold there (presumably some kind of restoration during the summer months).

And finally a short walk through what it seemed to be a wet and soft ground (all sheep following me by that time, like i was carrying their dinner),i reached the other side (and the end of the road) of the castle.
I must admit, the peace and tranquillity was absolutelly awesome.

I hope the pictures look OK , i forgot to change them to sRGB before uploading them , tell me please if the colours look odd.

And finally a link for more info about the place....http://www.kilchurncastle.com/ (external link)

All photos taken with canon 1d mkII N , Tokina 12-24 f4 , and cokin ND grad filter.

[SIZE=3]More photos of the area....coming soon. :)

Lovely shots Dimitri, you're working that camera well.
It looks like a summers day instead of the depths of winter.

I love the DOF in the first shot and the reflections on Loch Awe in the second.
Nice foreground interest in the third.

Looking forward to the rest of the series.

I hope to get a day further north sometime this week. Weather permitting ?!

I like the subject and composition of #2 best, though the others have their merits, Dimitri!

Wow...very nice! I think #2 is excellent, especially with the shadows on the far hill. This photo has wonderful saturation of colors.

I`m still trying to get the hang of it,i don`t need to tell you that it is a beast, you know that.

Yes indeed,it was absolutely gorgeous.

I love the DOF in the first shot

Well,i wanted something to open up the series and it seems that it worked after all.:lol::lol:

and the reflections on Loch Awe in the second.

You just had to be there Cameron to see these reflections, thats all i can say.
I was extremely lucky with the weather (its usualy ****,as you know).:(

Nice foreground interest in the third.

There was also a small dead tree fearther to the left but the shot seemed too busy thats why i finished with this one.

Looking forward to the rest of the series.

I need to find the time for PP first because i`m going back to work on Tuesday and between that and spending time with my kids for a couple of days i will have all my work cut out for me.:)

I hope to get a day further north sometime this week. Weather permitting ?!

If the weather is nice at the weekend i might go up for a run myself , north trossacs (Loch Tay etc.):)
Wherever you go,have fun Cameron.;)

Great Shots Dimitri. I love both castle shots and good brokah on that fat sheep. :)

Glad you're having some good weather!

Are they restoring the castle? I notice the scaffolding on it.
