Enjoy nearly $200 off the going price for this lens if you have access to AAFES.com

BH is currently selling this for $929.

Thanks for the tip. I've been wanting a macro lens. Might have to jump on this.

Would this lens be a good portrait lens?

UPDATE: I decided to go for it. Almost wish I hadn't seen this post as I've been spending a lot of money lately.:-) The AFFES system is having some technical problems at the moment and my order hasn't been confirmed yet but when I called they said to wait for an hour or so while they work on the problem.

They also have the EF 50mm f/1.4 for $309 which seems to be a good price but I already have the 50mm f/1.8.

UPDATE 2: AFFES confirmed my order. Looks like I'll have to update my signature.:-)

Congrats on the new lens. The 50 1.4 is awesome. I posted that deal in its own thread too.

Does the $120 rebate offered by Canon apply? That would make it a really sweet deal.

There's also a 10% coupon code out there that further sweetens the deal!

Aren't coupons usually retailer specific? I already ordered the lens. I'm just wondering if the rebate will apply.

I doubt the rebate applies unless AAFES is an authorized reseller - I haven't looked as of this post though so it may be worth looking into for those of you who bought stuff.

Good question. I haven't really looked to see if there is a rebate form on Canon's site or maybe it's an instant rebate and has already been applied. I'll dig a little deeper as time permits. The lens won't be here for awhile so I have time to figure it out.
