My wife has a SX130 and it has always written slow to the card. There is a significant difference if the image has been taken with flash. This is a very slow write. Images taken in bright light write reasonably quickly. We do have it set for the maximum image resolution.

I put a Kingston class 10 SDHC ultimate X 100X card in and this did not make much difference.

So, does anyone else have this problem? Any thoughts? Other than this the camera pleases her. We have DSLR's but she prefers the simplicity of this style.

Paul

Hmmm, that is interesting. Under those conditions, there is a red light on the body that flashes and until it completes the screen is blank and the camera is unable to take a picture.

I also see that if the flash was not used, that light flashes green as it writes, or does something. The time to complete a "write" is not significantly less if I reduce the resolution significantly, if flash is not used. So, I believe that you are correct. Possibly batteries with a higher mah rating would be helpful. The ones I tested with were 2300mah, so I don't know if I can get much more than that.
