This might be old news for some, but I have been hearing some talk that Synctoy misses files. I decided this time to run my backup with Robocopy, which is an included tool on newer Windows OS. By default it only copies the files that are new or changed. I should have been up to date with Synctoy up to a month ago. However, when I ran Robocopy, it found HUNDREDS of files from the past 2 years than Synctoy had not updated or just not copied. Total missed files copied were over 30GB. That's pretty scary for a backup.

I'd advise using something else. I'll probably just make a robocopy batch file I can double click after downloading a big shoot.

be interesting to see if synctoy had logfiles to give you an idea of why the files weren't copied. I regularly check the logs from Karens Replicator because it doesn't seem to like copying big media files that are open during the copy process. My media server software has a habit of updating it's playlists quite often so it's common to see stuff being skipped instead of copied. I get kinda paranoid that it's missing raw image files too so it's always a good thing to check.

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

That is exactly why I blew it away - It was missing files.

I now use Syncback Pro (I'm a Windows 7 user)
