Got a chance to pick up this lightly used lens for $325. Did a search here and it's hardly even mentioned. Is that the answer to my own question?

Considering Sigma sells refurbished ones for $409, I'd say you got a good price!

I searched on the classifieds here and saw 6 for sale since June, all over $400. $325 looks good to me - especially if you're going to be able to test it first.

Thanks, I'll check it next week and if it's good it'll be mine. One nice perk is it will fit the ff Canons.

Man, that is depressing. There were so many good shots in the lens sample archive! But now that I look there again, I see most of them were shot with some flavor of 5D. Maybe it's not as good on a 60D?

Did you see this post?

That doesn't look normal, I'd send it to sigma for them to have a look.

This, Photozone tested it on the D3X (full frame) and concluded its weakness was the corners, it was VERY sharp in the center (Which is all your 60D is using(

Maybe its not focusing correctly on your 60D.. Try manually focusing and see if you get better results?

THis is tipical for this lens. I have the same lens and paid 185ish for it (knowing the autofocus is junk). As said above, manually focus with live view and it is sharp.

I have noticed that the af is acceptable on my 1dmk2n, but absolutely unusable on the t2i.

This is my first and last experience with anything that has the Sigma name on it. Lesson learned and as much as I would like to unload this thing it I could not in good conscience sell it to anyone. My other two lens are perfect in every way.

That's a shame- mine was excellent(!) across the frame. So good in fact that I couldn't see a difference between it and the 24LII.

Send it in to Sigma to have it calibrated- I'm pretty sure you'll be quite pleased with it once it's dialed in properly.
