It all depends on what you want out of it and what you want to spend. After a simple internet search I found names that I have never heard of but I pretty much always stick with either Lowepro, Think Tank or Tamrac. I keep my 70-200 in my backpack or shoulder bag that I am carrying at the time. The only lenses that I actually have purchases a lens case for is my 300 f/2.8, 500 f/4 and 600 f/4.

The one that Canon provides is pretty basic and you can get well padded ones from other makers. A simple visit to a site like B&H lists all the cases that they carry (and they probably have the majority but certainly all of the popular ones) and then you can search the sales sites if you are looking for used.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

My case sits on a shelf in my closet. When it's not on the camera, it's usually in something like this: post #32 or the Tamrac belt in Post #68.
