I made a rather large and profitable sale to an individual in Mexico. He has been delivered the photographs and has indicated he's extremely happy with the products..... It's been about a month now, and I get an EMail from him requesting a "Certificate of Authenticity" on the Photos that he purchased. I replied that I don't normally provide those, as I currently have no photos that are considered "Limited Edition" photos... I didn't even sign the ones that he purchased.. (Think he's reselling them??)

I'm in the US - he's in Mexico - He hasn't replied yet, but I dont want to alienate a good customer.. IF he persists, how do I go about getting/printing a COA out for him ?? Any blank templates available? Have done some Google searches for that, but seems as though they cost, or they just provide the info needed and not any 'format' they should be in...

Thoughts?? Anyone use them and be willing to provide a copy so I can learn from your format and print with my info?

Thanks,
Rick

I just did a google search, there are templates on the web. Keep the guy happy, maybe he'll but another print!

My answer for most photography questions: "it depends...'

what exactly did you sell him? digital files? prints? did he commission these images from you, or did he buy photos out of your archive?

He saw the images on my website, contacted me regarding the format of the prints that he wanted (Some canvas, some paper printed images, a couple on aluminum) - I put order thru to my lab, and when received, I shipped them to him. He Emailed me the day he received them commenting on how he was pleased by the quality of the product, stating he hopes we can do business again in the short future - never mentioned any COA at that time.

tks,

r

My guess is that he wants/needs that for insurance. As for the document itself, if they guy spent a nice chunk of change of the photos, you may want to get a nice one printed at a printer with a snazzy gold seal and what-not. I would think it would boost your image with him, and lead to additional sales.

This may be a good marketing ploy - "Includes a signed and numbered Certificate of Authenticity - suitable for framing"

If steroids are illegal for athletes, should PS be illegal for models?

I agree, and have already begun the process .... including sequential numbered hologram seals.

Just remember, once you certify an image as "Limited Edition", generally you can't change the designation without legal ramifications. Since the designation is done to increase the price per piece....

Congrats on the sales btw..;)

Amazon - search for

"100 Sequentially Numbered Tamper Evident Hologram Labels/Stickers"

I got some small ones (3/4 x 1/4 inch) for $10.99 - free shipping... lots to choose from!
