The lens is not bad at all. It is only weights about 1.5 pounds. I put it on the camera tonight to get my first real shots. I shot a few indoors. It was low light, but I got a few good shots indoors. I am going to try and get some good ones tomorrow outside. It was just too cold today at 38F (3.3 C). Brrrr!

The attached photos are some that I took tonight. My wife and son were playing with our dog. In the first photo, my son has a fabric "bone" that the dog chews on. He was twirling it around and she was snapping at it. I think it came out pretty good with the blur on the "bone", yet his head and left side are pretty much in focus.

I am looking forward to see your photos. I am at final stage which I might buy this lens or the sigma version.

I edited my last post and attached a couple to it that I shot indoors tonight. I am not sure if they came out in the forum, though. I will try and get some more shots tomorow and post them tomorrow evening.

BTW, the light coming from the lamp is halogen. Couple that with the fact that I only have the built-in flash on the Rebel XT and one can see that it was not the best of lighting conditions.

I compared the 70-200 F4 with the 70-300 IS and decided on the 'L' lense. - It has more contrast and seems to resolve better as well.
One problem I noted is that it tends to back focus slightly. Because of that I am also comparing it to another 70-200 F4 sample. The conclusion is not certain yet, but the two lenses seem to focus differently. One seems to be a slight bit sharper as well.

Has anyone else noticed any of the same?
If the lense does backfocus can Canon make an adjustment? - if so, is it with the camera body or the lense?
