While I've been looking for a long time for a 5Dc as my stepping stone into the fullframe world, I had seen a couple of posts recently about 1DsmkIIs and I've been watching them go for around $1000. I wish I could just jump straight to a 5DII, but that's definitely pushing it out of my budget unfortunately. In terms of IQ, and features, do you guys think I should go for the 5Dc now, or hold of for a while, save a little more, and jump to a 1DsmkII?

I shoot mainly still shots, landscapes, car photography, that kind of stuff.

1DsmkII is going to be better built and more robust. Its what 16mp? With better autofocus etc.

I'd pick one over the 5dc if weight wasnt an issue.

No contest, I would jump on the 1Ds2 if it were an option.

I'm not sure why people are saying 1Ds2...

The AF won't matter for you and I don't think there's much of a difference in IQ, and the 1Ds2 is a heavy bastard to carry around if you're at a show/hike/etc all day. For what you're shooting, the 5Dc's AF will be just fine.

I'd go with the 5Dc *OR* for the cost of a 1Ds2 you could find a used 5D Mark II, which would be the best option of the three. I know you said it's not in the budget, but look hard 'till you find a good deal, and save up the extra little bit of money.

TBH looking through your photostream stick with the 550d. I dont see anything that would be improved with either the 5dc or the 1dsII.

While the 1Ds2 is quite arguably "better" in some respects, there's nothing wrong with a 5Dc either.

For the purposes you listed it wouldn't really matter, and it's not going to make a difference for actual image quality.

For the money the 1Ds2 looks very tempting. I have to say, there is something special about the files the 5D produces. I you don't new the AF then a $600 5D will probably have the edge on IQ.
