Solo autocross is the entry level of motorsports competition offered by the Sports Car Club of America. The short distance laps around courses of cones is an easy-going low-key form of racing, and involves just about everything with four wheels, from pure race cars to karts and high-dollar sports cars. This solo event had a special flavor. It was the retirement race for long-time competitor Jack Banker and his Lotus Seven.

The CP corvair, is that Dick Berger? If so, one hell of a nice, funny guy. He is a huge fan of CP, which is home to fully prepared muscle and pony cars. Cages, slicks, full suspension, and built motors. They call them the ground pounders for a reason. And, a loyal group of guys that are fiercely competitive, but great to party with! Also, he has a beautiful daughter, which is another story.:lol:

Great set of photos. Nice capture.

Not one, but two Lotus 7 at the same auto-x?? I was always fond of the Super 7, but drove a MG Midget in my day.

Nice set. It shows what kind of photos you really can get at SOLO-II.

A Solo event is pleasantly easy-going and accessible for everyone, and the organizers are typically cooperative with people with cameras. It's a small-scale event that doesn't offer a photographer the chance to brag about being at a big race, but there are plenty of chances to get good pictures, from the action around the cones to the way that the competitors interact with their vehicles. Those who are upset with the fencing, restrictions and limitations of circuit racing would enjoy a day at a Solo event.
