I photographed a wedding at the weekend which was slightly different than usual as I knew the B&G very well. I have been looking at the guests photographs on Facebook. Why is any professional photographer worried :-)

Professionals aren't worried. If anything, it makes us look better. I think it's when they get in the way and block our shots that it becomes a problem.

In a comparison of quality, nobody should be worried. But if the bride and groom arent discriminating in terms of quality (and looking at the comments on facebook, many arent) future couples may decide to skip the expense.

Well, I agree that there are people who can't seem to appreciate the difference in quality. However, do we really want them as clients? Why do creative work for somebody who can't/won't tell the difference from a high-megapixel snapshot?

It is not often that shots are blocked, i manage the set up well, but I am more than happy to let the guests lose after I have got what I want, This was different because I do not usually have access to the B&Gs Facebook.

Contrast and compare :-)

Oh right, the money :) I agree being in this business (or any business for that matter) is not just about the art and creativity. It takes hard work and high quality to get to the point that you can be very picky about the clients you choose to work with.

Actually a great idea for a thread. Allow me to contribute :) These photos are taken about 5s apart at my last wedding. One is by a guest, taken from Facebook where it was posted right after it was taken of course. One is by me ;)

Mhmm. Reminds me of one time I was attending a relative's wedding and the official photographers were wearing matching vests (the camera ones with 20 pockets) that said "OFFICIAL PHOTOGRAPHER" in huge font on the back. I chuckled at the sight - but guests did seem to be giving them a wider berth than usual
