Haven't seen a recent thread about the CarrySpeed FS Pro so thought I would give my short review. I apologize ahead for the crappy iphone pics.

Got it very quick, and so far love it. I am a big guy, 5-10 300lb, so I was worried about the being long enough. Fits great, and actually will prob pull it up some, but plenty of adjustment. Straps are nicely sewn, and hardware is tough. I like the three button release buckle on the quick releases.

The ballhead attatchment is larger than what I thought, which is a good thing. It is a screw closure. The first pic shows the ball head flipped up, a new design of the new FS plate, so the camera will sit flat if you want. I put a quarter in for size reference.

IMAGE: http://i311.photobucket.com/albums/kk459/t_racer69/IMG_0968_zpsc6abc7f8.jpg

Next is the plate itself. Nicely machined aluminum with 6 holes for QR plates or tripod attatchment. The bottom is machined to act as an Arca Swiss type plate, so if you already use this, no need for additional plate if you don't need or want. The ballhead flips up and down, and everything seems solid on it.

Final pic was trying to show the width of the full size strap. Very thick, 3" wide, and comfy.

All in all, very much like it so far.

Thank you Travis for this review. The Carry Speed does look like a very good design. My problem is I just ordered a LumaCinch only a few days ago. I wish it were possible for me to see them both at a camera store so I could make up my mind there which I would like better.
So do I cancel my Cinch and get this, or go ahead and get the Cinch.....

To me, this is my opinion.

I looked at many straps, and such. I much prefer a wider strap. But, also comes with a few other things that the Cinch does not. First, the Carry speed plate. The new plate, the FS, has an Arca style plate machined in, or 6 tripod mounting points to attatch your own plate.

The other, but not as exciting, is the small attatchments. The Uni strap, is basically an additional mounting point with a clip and hand strap for options. The wife doesn't like the CS, but I think she would dig the hand strap.

Overall, for the price, I think it is inline with the Blackrapid, Luma, etc.

Hmm... debating pulling the trigger on one especially since they have introductory pricing. I do like the lens and camera attachment for longer lenses.

Currently have a cheap shoulder strap, works well enough but it's not the most secure. What I probably need more though is a dual camera harness.

I don't have an Arca style plate. I have 2 Manfrotto tripods that I use. I don't know if the FS plate would be beneficial to me, but it does look interesting. I also liked the extra strap I saw in the video for larger lenses as I do have the Sigma 150-500 lens.

Thanks for this review. I've been going back and forth with them in email with some questions.

I see the strap has a plastic clip or "stop" which prevents the camera from sliding "back", but does it also include one in front to prevent the camera from sliding forward? Say if you were bending down, or leaning forward, the camera would slide and dangle below you're belly.. I hope that makes sense and I'm hoping there is a way to prevent the camera from sliding forward.

I have a bunch of CS straps I'm currently reviewing (FS-Slim, DS-PRO, DS-2). I myself don't have any Arca style heads. What I plan on doing is using my M-Plate from CustomSLR (http://1kindphotography.blogspot.com …-plate-pro-universal.html (external link)) with the Carry Speed straps. This will let me use both Manfrotto heads and Carry Speed straps.

The difference with the FS and DS line is that the FS comes with a plate and ballhead locknut. The DS just comes with ballhead locknut. Straps are the same for both lines.

DS-2 has ballhead locknut but has a different strap design.

I don't think there is one for the front. The reason is when you're not using the camera, you pull on the front quick adjustment. This makes the strap tighter thus causing the camera to hug closer to your body. Your body is what will keep the camera from moving if you bend over.

I'll have to go home and take a look again at the 3 straps that I have to see.

Thank you.. In your opinion do you think if the strap is tightened, it will be enough to prevent the camera from sliding forward? That clip and feature is most important to me and works well with my BR. I usually slide the camera almost to my back.

Thanks!

I have a RS-Sport 2 and like the bumper feature as I do the same as you. I just sold off my Nikon gear so I'm DSLR-less. I have a wedding this weekend and family members are bringing their DSLR. I will be finishing up my reviews and let you know.

I just tried it out and yes, you can move the lock and tighten the front adjustment to somewhat limit motion. I see what bandit is saying, yes you can tighten it up to take out the slack and it def limits movement. I kind like that.

My main reason for getting it is motorsports, (sportscar, solo, etc.) and for carrying around with the family to have quick access like at the zoo, parks, etc. and still move around without having to set it down.

After looking at the M plate, same basic principle, move the mounting location to the side or front, and leave the center open for qr Arca plate or whatever plate you want mounted. Looks like a nice piece, but for $5 less, you can get the whole CS with strap and accessories. I know that price alone is not the answer, but something to consider in looking at them all.

Be interested bandit to see what you think of all of the straps. I have thought about getting the slim strap, or just making one for a smaller strap for maybe winter time when wearing a coat or such.

Carry Speed's FS plate is only for Arca systems =(. M-Plate has both Arca and Manfrotto RC2 built-in. But yes, both moves the mounting location. The same applies to the SpiderPro holster plate (I think this is kind of where they all got the idea from).

That's why for those looking for Manfrotto RC2 can pick up the M-Plate and purchase the DS-Pro (wide strap) or DS-Slim (slim strap). Screw the ballhead locknut from the Carry Speed strap to the M-Plate and you have the same setup as the FS just that it works for Arca and Manfrotto RC2.

The wider strap are for those with bigger shoulders. Both feel comfortable. I actually prefer the slim version since its thinner and doesn't take up that much room. I'm 5' 9" and average build (Medium size clothes).

In my CustomSLR and Carry Speed reviews on my site, I love neoprene straps. It's flexible and they stretch. I noticed that the DS-2 shoulder strap is different so I'm going to review it and see what makes it different and how it feels compared to the neoprene straps. I only felt it when I took it out of the package and its definitely thicker and harder. It's not squishy as the current straps.

Keep an eye out on my site or follow my social media sites for when I post the reviews and to be notified. Hopefully I can get pictures this weekend. Sucks not having a DSLR. Waiting for another 5D3 deal on eBay. I feel naked without a camera.

I am not up on what plate styles fit what, I thought the Arca was copied more. Either way, you could always mount whatever plate you need to it. But, the M having both would technically be twice as nice. LOL

The wider strap is exactly why I got the original CS. I am 5'10", 300lb and wide shoulders. I like the extra width.

Like your site, but the share tab on the side is very distracting. I can't find a way to minimize it, and it is right in the middle of the page. My only critique.

Now, more on this Mogopod.

Now you know =)

Yea, different body, different preference. With the slim strap on a wide shoulder, it would be too thin and feels like you have a string on your shoulder and no support.

Thanks. Trying to fix it where its not in the middle. I had one other person tell me that. Different users have different resolutions and screen. It moves whenever I expand the window. I may have to remove it completely =(

Now, more on this Mogopod.

It was just listed not too long ago. I'm going to try and get more information and a review sample sent to me. Not everything is available to try and physically see so I'm your eyes. I'll be going to PhotoPlus next month. Carry Speed will be there and I'm sure they will be showing it off.

At the 3:00 minute mark it answers my concern…

I must say, they have been very responsive to my inquiries as well. That's also important…
