I am glad I bought it. Better to be shooting now than not. I think that I am going to like this lens.
I didn't notice at first but now you point it out... and yes, it is very easy to do.
On a positive side, my best landscapes (and some my best shots) this year were with my 10-22. I think you have nailed the reason, I had to scan the entire frame on every composition to make sure tripod legs, camera bag, filter holder etc were out of the frame. In doing so I made some compositional alterations which improved the images
