Come a little closer. (external link) by Joseph Kurtz Photography (external link), on Flickr

This is Storm, he lives behind my Grandmothers house and from my observance he is a guard dog. It took me a little while of staying near the fence to let him feel comfortable enough for me to get closer. As I sat down next to him his tail started wagging and in all honesty it looked like he wanted to play, or have me for dinner, either way this is a beautiful dog.

The processing you chose matches the feel of "guard dog" very nicely. What did you do in post?

I did a basic run through lightroom first, desaturated the pic maybe 25% in there, strong contrast, upped the exposure and blacks a bit.

Then took it into color efx pro4 and used their contrast control as I find it more flexible then lightrooms, also added a brown tint to the pic and brought the opacity of it down enough to where it wasnt overboard.

I wanted a gritty, while still saturated, contrasty look and I think I got what I was looking for.
