To me this looks good though, a nice balance. You might want to try crop some of the empty space out at the bottom and see how it looks.

Don't be afraid of clipping the histogram when creating a B&W photo. You can get away with blown highlights and crushed blacks here and there with B&W much more easily than color.

I did a quick crop at 21:9 just at the top of the "dark line" at the lower 1/3 of the original and tightened in the sides just a snidge and although my copy lost too much detail, the image is much more interesting in my opinion.
