For my next Safari trip, I definite get something like Canon PowerShot SX50 HS on top of my 28-300L.

Thanks for sharing.

Those are all great shots. Well done as usual! Do you typically use tripods?

Ken, your shots with your superzooms encourage me to order one right away - except I know I was always amazed with what you got of the old S2 IS - a camera I owned but could never master. My dh has stolen my S90 and I am without a smaller camera, so maybe I will try again.

Hi all, and thanks for your comments. Sorry I didn't get back to this sooner.

ardeekay - All our shots are taken hand-held. The lens-based image stabilization in the SX30/SX40 is very effective.

Nancy - We actually still shoot with our old Sx-IS cameras also. Here's one of Temple's recent shots from the S5:

IMAGE: http://kenn3d.smugmug.com/Nature/Birds-Blossoms/i-rK6Xcsd/0/XL/s5hummingbirdhifblossoms8680-XL.jpg
The newer generation superzooms offer both higher resolution and greater focal length of course. You may want to check out the just released SX50 (with 24-1200mm zoom lens). The early samples look promising.

Thanks again everybody, and good shooting.
