Sorry to drop in like this, I haven't been in the forum world for awhile. Just wondering if anyone has info. for me. My screen has been perodically going black, stops working during shoots. Today I shot a few minutes and it was gone completely. The auto focus stopped working, menu, iso, etc. not working. I've had it probably 5 or 6 years. The custom color went bad long ago and the auto isn't so good anymore either. I think it's time to just replace it. I've sent cameras in a couple time for back focus or whatever and they never seem to fix it anyway. BUT if anyone has an idea of what the deal might be, what it might cost me, I'd like to know.
Thanks for your time.

I second the suggestion of Iannes. If you can't borrow a known good battery, invest in a good quality 3rd party battery, something like a SterlingTek might cost you $25. Note that just because a battery seems to charge OK, doesn't mean it will properly function. This is especially true if the battery is old. If that doesn't work reflash the firmware as a 2nd step.

Thanks for your suggestions. I did try my back up battery, but I'll make sure it's charged properly and try it again.
