It's still a couple of months until the real action starts here, when there will be thousands of birds flying in, but even during the off season, there is something to see and photograph here, and you don't even have to leave the car.

I was feet away from this guy, grabbed my camera, but my buddy had been shooting dragonflies, and the focus was WAY off...he took off before I could get a lock. I believe it's a harrier, but please correct me if I'm wrong. I was so close...sigh

That first one is beautiful. My favorite.

I like them all, but my favorite is the "Egret on the road", there's something about the depth of field with those telephone poles that gets me. :) I've never seen a pheasant at all in the wild, so that'd be a cool thing to see.

That is definitely a Northern Harrier, by the way.

I'm like you, I can't wait for the cooler weather for the birds to return, here, there's not much going on in my area right now.
