Hi,
Which of the lens (below in my signature) would you bring on a family (wife and 8 months old baby) stopover in Iceland? I would like to travel light, but not regret it later.

The main attraction that we will visit is the Golden Circle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Circle_(Iceland) (external link)) on a bus tour.

Best regards,

Primes:
Bower 14mm 2.8, Takumar 28.mm 3.5, Bower 35mm 1.4, Takumar 50mm 1.4, Canon 50mm 1.8, mamiya 55mm 1.8, Samyang 85mm 1.4, Meyer-optik 135 2.8, Mamiya 135mm 2.8, Takumar 135mm 3.5, Mamiya 400mm 6.3
Zooms:
Canon 28-105mm 3.5-4.5, Canon 100-300mm 5.6L.

On my trip to iceland, I brought 24L,50L,135L,and 300L, but most of the photos are taken with at 24mm. So if you want to travel light, I guess you can bring the 18-55, since it is your widest lens and the 50 1.8, it's very small and light anyway. I used 300 and 135 to take pictures of distant glacier and landscapes. So if you still can, I would also suggest bringing the 100-300.

Another note, if you have the time, please also visit the blue lagoon :)

Here are some pictures I took.

If you absolutely can't buy new lenses, then 18-55 and 100-300.

When I was in Iceland I used UWA and tele the most, "medium" focal lengths went largely untouched.

If you can buy or rent lenses, then the following will do the job:
canon 10-22
tamron 70-300 VC USD (or canon 70-200 f4 non IS for better IQ and AF but less range and no IS)

Your pictures are amazing!

Maybe you can relieve my concern of bringing a baby in water that you cannot see through... I don't know if the blue lagoon is really a baby place.

I'd want wide and I would want long. So for your existing lenses I'd agree with Sirrith. I'm not sure how sharp your Takumar SMC 28mm 3.5 is but if it's sharp I'd add it to the bag.

I didn't actually go to the blue lagoon myself, but I would agree with you, it doesn't seem much of a baby place. If it were just you and your SO, then I would definitely recommend it :)

Geysir is a must see by the way. Lovely place, though crowded. My Iceland pics are here if you want a quick browse to get some ideas of what you'll be facing.

Here's a story about a family that went with their 10-month old. LINK (external link)

I went to the Blue Lagoon on Xmas Day 2003 and it was fantastic. Never did I ever dream that I would one day be standing in a snow shower, wearing nothing but simming trunks, yelling 'I am a Viking' on Xmas Day.

We did the Golden Circle in a 4-wheel drive huge jeep-like thing. When I returned two years later we did it in a small coach. The former was much more fun, but the places visited were mainly the same.

When I go back I'll be taking my 10-22, 24-105 and 100-400.

Thank you.
Sorry I forgot about the baby. Your baby might feel uncomfortable there.

I don't think so. The water is warm, not hot, and the dissolved salts increase the body's bouyancy so that floating is easy. People are extremely well behaved, so there's no splashing or other potentially scary stuff.

I'd highly recommend trying it out. If the baby isn't keen then one parent can take it back in and sit in the cafe. It's a common thing to visit on the trip to/from the airport as it's halfway between there and Reykjavik.

Beautiful pictures Hollis. I would love to go there during winter.
Yeah I guess if the baby doesn't like it, the parent can take turn :)
Blue lagoon is just too beautiful to miss.

Thanks all!

Indeed the 18-55 was the most useful lens. A few 100-300 for the falls and a few portraits with the 50.

Great it worked out for you. There is a good reason why I am so addicted to my 15 - 85 mm lens. :)
