Have a shoot tomorrow and borrowed my best friend to test my lighting setup. He doesn't seem too thrilled about it, but my portable lighting setup still seems to be working fine.

You used a black dog to test your lighting set-up...umm. Ya might want to increase your DOF for that corporate shoot. Also, your lens is inappropiate for close head shots.

Cute dog! :D

As Chauncey tried to say... borrow a test subject (human) and get some practice shots in before your shoot. Do it today! Making lighting assumptions based on a black dog with an oily coat is a recipe for failure. Just wondering... have you done any type of studio portraiture before?

Believe me... your 50mm f/1.4 on your 50D will work great for corp headshots (assuming that's what you're doing).

The dogs pics are ok, but they do look very soft.

Yes they do. I'm attributing the out of focus to the camera's inability to find focus on the eye of an otherwise black dog. If anyone has tips on how to overcome this I would love to hear them.
