With what has been going on over at the NAPP forums with them limiting on-going threads and participation therein, ostensibly because they can't afford them and that it creates an unreasonable demand on system resources.

My questions are...who supports/pays for this forum, for I don't recall submitting a membership fee, how much of a drain on the system are the on-going threads that we have and,
how many different, types/formats/or whatever they're called, are used for photo-sharing websites such as this?

Just want some education as to how things work. Talk slow cause I am. :)

I would think that would be the least of NAPP's worries. I've been a member for several years and it's getting increasingly harder for me to find value with membership. The magazine seems to mostly be a rehash of crap they've rehashed before.

There's not a membership fee here, but there is a place to donate if you so feel.

Pekka Saarinen owns, administers and pays for the POTN domain. Pekka probably pays out of pocket supplemented with donations. Donations are made via PayPal here.

Does buying from the POTN store support the forum?

Moving slightly off the topic at hand, NAPP seemed to want to have a website that emulated social media sites and imo, it was a horrible move. I have another year left on my membership there and I doubt that I will renew unless they really improve the content. It is hard to come up with fresh tutorials without repeating what they have done in the past and I see that happening now. They have had some webcasts which you can download which were of value to me in the digital painting realm but beyond that I hardly ever go there now. Kelby seems to be all about how much cash he can suck out of everyone. Their big push is the twice a year Photoshop world that is always held in the US. They have some decent educators but rarely venture outside of the US to hold seminars. This is good news for those that live in the US. I have even found that their discounts are not as wide and good as they once were.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.
