I just bought a corded external mic (Audio-Technica lavalier mirophone - ATR3350) for my Canon 5d Mark II and it doesn't appear to be working.
I inserted the button battery (both directions since it wasn't clearly marked), plugged it into the external mIc IN terminal on the camera, and turned on the mic. The sound for the resultant movies was just that which came from the internal mic. Didn't matter whether the external mic was on, off, plugged in or not, the sound was always what the internal mic picked up.
Any suggestions?
