I just picked up a nice screw-on CPL and have a Big Stopper in the pipeline; just wanted to see if there is a rhyme or reason how people stack filters.

Other than the physical possibilities of the various filter systems, is there a secret sauce to sequencing different kinds of filters, i.e. UV + ND/GND + CPL, UV + CPL + ND/GND, CPL + UV + ND/GND, CPL + ND/GND + UV, etc ... does one sequence give better results than another?

I usually remove my UV when I screw on a CPL. I'll just have to live with trying to futz with a screw on CPL + Foundation Kit until I can afford the Lee CPL system that can co-exist in harmony with the rest of my Foundation.

Peace ..

Why even bother with the UV at all?

I'll put the CPL on last, just cause it's easier to spin it, but I don't think the order matters.

If steroids are illegal for athletes, should PS be illegal for models?

I use ND then CPL. As Kirk stated, you gotta be able to turn that CPL easily.

I agree.

Scrap the UV filter (turn it into a drink coaster if you wish) as it will do absolutely nothing positive for your images unless you are using film that is overly sensitive to UV wavelengths.

Extra glass surfaces that you don't need for effect simply cause extra reflections and potential for degrading your image. Use as few filters as you NEED to achieve an effect.
