this is aimed primarily at owners of 5D2/3, which backpack do you use? ive tried to search but cant find the answers i needs so apologies, When I go hill walking for the day I usually take my 5D2 with rs7 strap and either 17-40mm or 24-105mm fitted, till now ive been using a crumpler shoulder bag, but the longer I carry it for the more it bugs me, so anyhow I now want a backpack, not too big but enough to hold the Camera and lens usually with hood reversed, and a few accessories, maybe a monopod and a drinks container, snack bars and wallet/mobile, maybe something similar to the tamrac 5547 adventure 7, so do any of you recommend something along these lines,

any advice greatly received, thanks

For the gear you presently have, the Lowepro Mini Trekker holds quite a bit for its size.

Just consider when buying, if you plan to grow with more gear, so buy accordingly.

I don't really see your body having much impact on which backpack you use, so I'd say start with the bag review sticky.

Take a look at the Kata 3N1 series. I like the small 3N1-10DL.

Lowepro Photosport 200 -- will fit your gear (both the 17-40 and 24-105 with either of them attached to the body), it is light weight, can fit extra clothing and food, and a water bladder. You can strap your tripod on the outside as well on the side. It also has side access, which is quick, easy, and super useful.

It is the best solution I've found for short day hikes when carrying a two lens setup.

I'd spring for the F-Stop Loka or Tilopa as a larger pack in the future to carry even more gear, but the Lowepro Photosport 200 is definitely a backpack to look at. There is a detailed review of the bag found on this forum. Just do a quick search and it should come up.

I use a Lowepro Flipside 400AW. I like the fact that the opening is the same side as the harness. I can therefore put the rucksac down on any surface to gain access and know I am not going to get a wet or muddy back when I put it back on. It may be a bit big for your needs but they make smaller versions all be it without the weather proof cover.

I've found the Lowepro Pro Runner 200 AW to be an excellent daypack. And it's a good 'carry'.

I use the Trekker 200 AW, which looks about the same width as xhacks inside, but a little longer. I can put my flash lying lengthways where he has just room for his 50mm f/1.4, a 70-200 where he keeps his flash and a 100-400 on the opposite side.

I have a lowepro mini trekker that will hold plenty and that I have done plenty of walking with in all conditions.

I have, however, taken to going out with just my 5DII + 35L + 85 1.8 which all fits perfectly in a Lowepro Toploader (Pro 75 AW I think). With room for a 580EXII + Stofen in the side, a couple of extra memory cards and lens cloth in the top (or Pocket Wizard Flex & Mini) and a rocket blower in the mesh outer pocket. A very light and compact carry case. If I need more space for another lens I can attach one of my sliploc lens cases onto it.

Take a look at the F-stop backpacks if its in your price range and availability.

I use the F-stop Kenti, Slim profile and can easily carry what you have listed.
