1st time w/ colored gels

Just got a set of colored gels, just experimenting with them.

The purple hair looks cool.

Not sure I like this. If this is what you wanted, that's great. I like gels for creating dynamic backgrounds or for backlighting, but I'd rather have the skin tones close to normal. Just something to consider. It's a cute pic though.

I wasnt looking for anything in particular. Was just seeing what kind of stuff could be done. Saw this in LR4 and thought it was kinda cool looking.

Try using the gel on just the rim light, so that it just highlights her hair. That way you retain the natural skin color and still have the funky light.

That's what I intend to do, but right now I only have 1 speedlight. I tried to rimlight it and use the camera flash to fill but it looked like garbage.

Did an edit tonight let me know what you think of this
