Sep 28, 2012 13:25 | #1 I know that this is not strictly a celestial image, but it is a photo of an astronomical observatory here in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. This is Korek observatory, which unfortunately has been bombed a few times, and thus is out of commission. Unfortunately, you need permission to go to the area, hence the distant shot from the ground below.   That is a radio telescope on the right of the image.
