Voicing observations of this nature should not be in your business model. If they come to you unbidden, then maybe you're in the wrong business. This is the kind of thing you expect to hear in men's locker rooms and strip clubs.

Agreed 100%. I find it quite ironic how you are concerned about manager's unprofessional practices, yet are publicly and personally insulting that same person?

Maybe the 16 year old kid got the job because he came across more professional than the OP. From what I have read here, I would never hire this photographer.

You're right. That was inappropriate. I figured since this is mostly anonymous it will probably never get back to her. I have never mentioned her name or the name of the business she runs.

Shampoo sounds like an unfortunate name for a hair product.
You're a ghost driving a meat-coated skeleton made from stardust, riding a rock, hurtling through space. Fear Nothing!

It is not the planner that is being judged here...it is you and you have shown your colours.

I make one comment here and you're assuming that I am like that all the time. You must know me pretty well then. When did we meet and how long have we known each other? I am pretty sure I've never met you so I couldn't judge your character just by what you type. I'm pretty sure no one can.

Yes...but that is all we know about you. That is all we can judge by. Maybe you just let this little bit slip with the event planner one day...and that is why you are out of a job.

Being a professional means acting professional and that one comment in my opinion was not professional. Sometimes all it takes is one comment.

Not really hypersensitive. Just kind of chuckling how some of them so called professional photographers present themselves on a public forum...and then they wonder why they lose jobs.

...not really. The OP is an easily identifiable professional photographer based in a very small town who has publicly insulted one of the local even planners. That isn't smart business: and aren't we supposed to talk about business in this forum?

Sergio was internationally known at the age of 17. At 18 years old, JoeyL shot the Twilight movie posters and became internationally known. Just because someone is young doesn't mean they suck. Both those guys were better and more accomplished before they could buy alcohol than most of us will ever be.

Yea, but he can buy the alcohol for this kid and charge a hefty fee to make his money back,, which will not be enough to pay the attorney for giving a kid booze, but it's the circle of life :)

Thank you. I was hoping someone would get that. Anyway, I've shrugged that BS off and getting my own gigs set up. I got one already today for June 2013!

the title made me think about the even planner I had to work with a few weeks ago... and then your story was not going anywhere my thoughts were... damn gutter...

I was actually jokingly replying to this. It wouldn't surprise me any if the people giving me crap didn't read half this thread and totally missed that...

Just so you know I did not wish this to happen. The kid sent me an email at 4:30 this morning (I got up at about 9:30) and he's having trouble getting images off his card. When he pops it into his card reader he doesn't see any pictures there. In fact Windows says the card needs to be formatted. Uh oh... He says he can still see the photos with the card in the camera. I told him to try and copy them from the camera instead of the card reader.

I'm hoping for the brides sake that he has pictures to give her. He shot the whole wedding on one 16GB card.

When he was assisting me I told him that wasn't a good idea. I have 4 GB and 8 GB cards and I usually go through 2 or 3 of them for a wedding. I'll let you all know if I hear anything more.
