Last Train To Clarksville

Actually last trains to Cochrane and Toronto as Friday September 28th marked the end of the Ontario Northlander passenger service.

It was kind of emotional as the last trtain went by and everyone riding it was waving at every road crosiing that seemed to have photographers there from the storys going up and down the line. It was a sad part of history in a province gone mad.

I wish that I would have had the time and money to spend a couple weeks chasing this train over its route and capturing its last days.

I've always loved their livery... CPrail has a great design too. And of course the SF,A,T War Bonnet was a classic...

The 1st time I encountered an ONR train was while snowmobiling in Northern Ontario back just after they had taken delivery of the SD75's and to see a clean loco against snow and evergreens was awesome and made me a fan that something so large and industrial, could be so attractive.

This, like most abandonment of rail lines shows how little respect today's generation has for the men that built these railways with hard work and sweat.
