After a huge effort and years of painstaking restoration by the team at Avspecs, KA114 took to the skies over Auckland this week.
I was among the privileged thousands that braved the traffic to see this fabulous machine in the air today.

The weather thankfully was very kind as it hasn't been good until this morning. Please enjoy...

edit: reloaded the pic.

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

Outstanding! What a sight (and sound) that must have been!

Actual RR Merlins mounted?

Thanks all, much appreciated. Sad to say this aircraft will very shortly be on it's way overseas but it's certainly been a pleasure to view it flying.

(goes off on a B&W editing tangent :) )

Overseas - is it coming home? (he said, hopefully)

Also, not hijacking but adding to your thread, I found another pic amongst my parents' photo collection. This was supposedly shot over England, where my Dad's RCAF 410 Squadron was posted most of the time, in addition to Scotland.

Wallace,

Interesting to see no guns in the nose. Thats ties up with something my father has recently told me - that the Mosquito relied on its speed to get it out of trouble and carried no guns on its missions during the war.

We have one in a museum near us at Old Sarum, sadly in pieces.

Great to see a Mosquito flying again. One of my favourite aircraft.

That is only true of the photo reconnaissance & bomber versions of the Mosquito. Fighter Mosquitos were armed with machine guns and cannons.
