This is the 2nd one I've seen. But this one had a little spider crawling around on top of it...

These things are hanging from the trees in my yard. And I keep walking into them.

100% Crop. I've already knocked this one down once before. He's BACK!!!!

If you look closely there is a tiny spider on top of the thing that has thorns sticking out of it.

I know the "big" spider by the common name of spiny orb weaver, and some call it crab spider, for obvious reasons...

Yes. A spiny orb-weaver (external link). Quite common in the Texas SE. They make webs across trails in the woods. I used to walk into them all the time in my youth, but I don't remember ever getting bit.

OK So I don't have to worry about them being poisonous? I just don't want my daughter walking into these (as I've done) and get bit by one if it is poisonous.

I don't believe they are any more poisonous than any other small spider. Someone please correct me if I am wrong!
