The hand is out of proportion to the image and oddly shaped. At first glance, I'm seeing a toothless serpent coming out of the water, and attacking a screaming and terrified baby by squeezing his hand. How's that for dramatic? I have a very fertile imagination and it gets away from me at times, but the point is this: I know the INTENTION of the photograph. It was to show the loving connection between the adult and the newborn and juxtapose the adult hand with that of the tiny newborn. My brain isn't seeing it like that though. Sue Cassidy

Using a 50mm lens on a close-up shot is asking for distortion as happened here, note the oversized hands. Use a longer lens, over 85mm. The things you do for yourself die with you, the things you do for others live forever.
