I did a search for my question first, but didn't find anything. If this has already been previously discussed, then I apologize.

After dropping my G5 onto a carpet several months ago (yeesh), the LCD stopped displaying reds and greens. Everything through the screen looks sepia, except for blues and yellows. Admittedly, it looks cool, but it makes it very difficult for me to judge whether or not I took a decent photo.

I'm guessing a wire is loose. I don't know anything about LCD screens, though. I'm hoping it's an easy fix. I really don't want to have to buy a new camera.

Can anyone help? (please say yes)

*edited to add: the pictures come out normal when uploaded.

It may be a faulty connector from the LCD to the motherboard.
I do not have a G5, but I read about that problem on the G3 before.
The LCD is mechanically similar in the G series cameras, check the thread below to start with.

You will find references and links to trace the problem and hopefully to fix it.

good luck

Thanks! Even though the problem described is different than the problem I have, I'd like to try it. However, the link that was posted within the link you gave me just links to the main page of microsoft. Do you (or anyone else) have a link that works?

Sorry, I didn’t checked the links.
I do not know more about the problem either, but if I find something useful I will post here the reference.

I did another search and found a similar page saying to open the LCD screen and make sure the blue and yellow plugs were firmly plugged in. I opened it and (as far as I can see) they're already plugged in. Any other ideas?

Thank you for replying :) I appreciate it.

Hi Lindsay,

I checked the link you said to be broken and its only a small error on the link. If you already opened the camera then maybe you dont need it, but anyway, the correct link to the pdf is:

Unfortunately, that didn't help me. But thank you so much for going to that trouble!
