http://www.canonrumors.com …ark-ii-price-drop-coming/ (external link)

I’ve been told by a couple of people that the Canon EOS 5D Mark II will see a big price drop this coming week in the USA, we should see it in other countries as well. We’re told the new price will be $1699 USD for the body until they’re all gone, which won’t take too long I don’t think.

Keep an eye here and we’ll post when the new price takes effect.

Looking forward to seeing how much these drop in refurbished and used prices.

The regular price at BH is $2099. The Canon refurb store has it at $1759. That's a tiny bit more than a 16% savings.

So $1699 (new) - 16% = $1427 (refurb). And used prices here at POTN would be around $1100-$1200, maybe even less for heavily used 5D2's.

We'll see :D

UPDATED 10/2/12

BH raised the regular price to $2199.
Canon is offering a $400 dollar instant savings which ends OCT 27 '12
The total with rebate is $1799.

So this is not a lowered price, it's a limited time $400 instant savings. What happens when the instant savings is over? Will the 5D2 regular price be lowered further?

Canon store refurbished price is still $1759.20

Seems to me that when there are more full frame DSLR options available, whether Canon or Nikon, prices should be trending downward.

Sounds about right for a full-frame camera with a crippled AF system.

Awesome! I'll still try to get it used, which should drop a lot too once this price drop occurs.

Guess I shouldn't have just bought one at the start of September.

Paid $1975ish. Price dropped a week later to $1900 and B&H refunded me. Now it is $1800 and maybe even lower.

Oh well, haha.

Updated my original post.

I'm paranoid. Did BH raise the regular price $100 or did I read their original price wrong when I created this thread? I could have sworn it was $2099 at the time I created this thread. Now it's $2199. I'm trying to help people get a deal and don't want to post false information. So now i'm a little confused. ???

They're probably getting ready for the holiday "sales". ;)

B&H has the same price as we have here in Canada $1799 the only difference is B&H has no taxes. You pay what you see at B&H :) unlike here $1799 + 13% tax = $2032.87
