Mocking bird. Not a colorful bird but a great singer. And quite ferocious too.

The shots were taken with 20D+Bigma, handhold. I know, they are butt shots and a little underexposed, but the combination somehow creates an artistic outcome, IMO of course. :D

C/C welcome.

That first shot is quite an interesting perspective...for ANY bird! Great that you were still able to focus on the eye too. You are right about it being ferocious...I have seen mockbirds swoop down and actually hit people while defend their nests!

Having grown up in the Texas Panhandle, I really appreciate mockingbirds. I wish we had them in Colorado. Great shots and an unusual perspective that really works!

You take what you can get, Fee, and you did it well. The mockingbird is also the state bird of Florida. I love the feisty little things, having been attacked more than once when accidentally walking too close to the tree containing her nest.

The angle in the first shot demonstrates the peripheral view this bird has. It certainly appears to be looking back at you even before turning his head side ways. The second photo has nice light and detail especially in the upper back and head area.

Thanks Gary. I wish i didn't clip the tail in #1. I'm just not used to handhold the heavy lens. :)
