Is the software that comes with the canon T3i (Picture Style Editor, Zoom Browser EX and Image Browser EX) good for anything other than hanging my computer up for five minutes at a time, touch a key and it says program not responding.
I think they are about to be deleted from my computer.
Thanks

Windows version works fine on any of my computers (XP & Win7) I've run it on. I only use DPP for RAW processing (to 16-bit TIFF which I use for the final or the occasional further processing). You might want to say what computer you're using.

One of the included programs, Digital Photo Professional (DPP) is excellent and easy to use for post processing images, especially those shot in RAW. Its very useful whether you're new to DSLR's or an old hand and don't want to start with the extra expense or complexity of 3rd party software. While primarily intended for RAW format, It even works well with JPEG files, but with the functionality geared towards RAW format grayed out. DPP and the other Canon applications all work very well on both of my machines. The usefulness of the other programs is more limited for me and I rarely run them.

Both my desktop and laptop are over 5 years old and run Windows 7. How old is your computer? What operating system, memory, etc? Sounds like somethings is conflicting with the software. I haven't read of people having issues running it before.

Before deleting, you might download the latest versions of each. Most were updated about 3-4 moths back. I personally run Windows XP and had no isssues with what came with my 60D or the recent updates.

Don't be too quick to blame the software; it has proven itself to be relatively trouble free and versatile for an included package. However, some issues are know with some Apple/Mac OS.

At least the latest versions all appear to be compatible with Vista 64 so I would do the updates as a starting point.

Thats why I didn't include Digital Photo Professional in the software that I listed because I like it too.

OK. I got the impression that all the Canon software was hanging. I would suggest you uninstall and re install the other apps. The EOS utility, although rarely used is needed to update lens profiles on your camera. Its can be used for remote shooting and downloading pics. I don't use remote control and I download using LR4. There are also a number of lens profiles already built in to your camera so this may never be something you'll run. I personally don't use the other Canon software except DPP, but others may. However, they should all work fine on your machine,
