The compression took a lot of the sharpness away because I have no idea what im doing when it comes to compression.

good eye contact.

to me this looks under exposed.

did you do any post processing on it? If so, tell us what. It looks to me like you might have tried to sharpen it too much.

as far as compression, try uploading the original to flickr.com. accounts are free and it is very photo friendly. You can upload the original and it will resize without significant negative effects.

Okay thanks! I edit in my own little style I guess. I like the slightly grungy look sometimes and I felt like with all the holes in his clothing and boots and the dirt on his face that this was appropriate. Here is the original. As far as over sharpening. When I compress the image it does add some artifact. I do have a flickr I will have to start uploading to there.

I like the eye contact and the pose. WB seems to be on the cool side (blue) and pumping up the exposure/brightness could help the under exposure.
