Unfortunately, I think I already know the answer to the following question, but I figured I'd try anyway. I have 600-700 photos I have in film that I took during my college days for the student paper. I've been dying to have them scanned so that I can edit my faves and create a portfolio, but it costs quite a bit to get this accomplished. Anyone know of a inexpensive service or individual who could help me? I was thinking that the only other option that is somewhat within my budget is to get the minolta dual scan IV, but I'd rather not spend money to get something I'll use for a limited time. If someone here has access to a scanner and can help for a fee, let me know. If you're into trades, I can design and maintain a website for you in exchange for scanning. Or it could be a combo of $ and web services. Whatever gets the job done, I suppose :) Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

You may be surprised how long it takes to scan 600-700 negatives. But if you plan to do it as quickly as possible, full time, it may be worthwhile buying the scanner as you could resell it for a similar amount.

yeah, it'll definitely be a drawn out process. the minolta dual scan gets good reviews and may be what i'm looking for and not super expensive. i'd better set my mind to doing this myself :)

You may also find that doing it yourself will result in getting the best end product. If somebody else does it you may still find yourself spending hours in Photoshop.
I got a used Nikon scanner off of eBay and scanning negatives is a doddle. You have the option of correcting them on the scanner or correcting them on Photoshop. I had planned to shoot through my negatives and then resell the scanner. Hasn`t quite worked out that way !
Make sure you get a scanner with a feature called ICE on it. This removes all of the scratches from the negatives.
Good Luck !
