If you live in the higher latitudes we may be about to have a nice aurora event. It appears that a CME has hit. If you're a solar weather person- the Bz is almost -16 (it was -35) and the solar wind speed is increasing. Might be a good one tonight.

There's an aurora in the sky around my place as I type this.. But the almost full moon and some high haze spoiled the show. The moon shining on the haze made the sky too bright.. If it were completely clear and moonless, it would have been very impressive. I took one shot and then gave up...

If I ever see aurora like that down here in TX we're probably screwed... so I would probably still be out there cussing the moon and shooting away LOL

I'll bet it would make an ok timelapse

I got a text from Spaceweather.com about an hour ago, so I jumped into the car and headed to the nearest field. High clouds and the full moon killed the display compared to the one earlier this year, but hey, down here by Chicago it's still pretty rare so the effort was worth it.
