I got my work to send me to New Zealand a few years back, went to New Plymouth for work and loved every minute, I had my camera with me back then and really wish I had more time, I only had a month.

Yep, just popping down to the corner store...............

QUOTED IMAGE

Now that is the true essence of Australia, the photo doesn't do it justice, there is no sense of the trillions of flies descending on you.

Just come upon this thread lol, mate i did South Island New Zealand last year forthree weeks driving around the island and can tell you you will absolutely luv the place as well as Australia. If your into nature wildlife do take the 100-400L for reach it will definetly be needed and the 7D alone should do you fine unless you dont mind carrying all the extra gear.
24-70 as well as 16-35 both good choices and thinking either one or both??..
If you after full frame then check this deal out but ya gunna haveta be quick:).

If i'm allowed to bring that up that is as just got the notification myself today so hope i'm forgiven if not???...As i'm not trying to spam ar advertise on behalfe of others ..
Melbourne is a beutifull City with plenty to take snaps of if you like Street ?Walkaoround Photography without missing Southbankand some very nice resturaunts to be had:).
Not sure whether your doing a City thing or just hiring a car and driving around the Countryside
Whichever ?? will keep you snapping away merrily fer sure .Plenty of storage and maybe a little netbook to download your pics on save running out of memory and thats what we did for our New Zealand trip ey.
Dunno who mentioned earlier on about the kangaroosters and wakkademas but they aint as dangerouse or fearfull as some may lead you to believe downunder here ey n just as cuddly as Possums:)..

If you go country, buy a fishing rod and go fishing.
