I finaly received my new Canon 600mm F4 IS II L lens. So far I have only been able to try it out in the field for about three hours. Below are a few of the images I made. Some were made with the addition of a 2X TC. Can you guess which ones without looking at the EXIF data? Please note that images 1, 7, & 8 are fairly large crops.

Beautiful shots Jim I'm quite envious of that lens. I'm gonna guess the Bald Eagle and perched red shouldered were with the extender on.

Amazing. I am green with envy! And no I can't tell which are with the extender, they all look sharp to me. Time to sell a kidney I guess and upgrade...

Soon as I saw your name and read the title I knew these were going to be special. I wasn't wrong :)
How do you find the weight and size compared to the 500 f/4?

The lens is slightly heavier, but it feels lighter because the balance is better. It is a bit longer, but still fits in my Think Tank Airport Security bag while attached to the camera with the hood reversed. Same way I packed the 500mm.
