Using a camera such as a Canon G series, the sound level (of the concert) always overwhelms the audio recording in the camera, and in fact the music isn't recognizable at all due to the distortion. Has anyone found a way to get around this?

Recording concerts without permission is also prohibited by most venues and artists. ScottSpellmanMedia.com [photography]

($100-300 typically). They feed that into the DSLRs Audio Input. Plenty of info about them on site here.
