lens or camera is front focusing or back focusing? Is there a specific test? I have seen some people have a focus test paper with lots of lines and a focus line. Where do I get this? Thanks

You don't need this printed chart, just arrange a number of items in an echelon on the table top and focus on one of them mid-way in the arrangement. Sharp focus on THAT item indicates perfect focus, but if one of the OTHER items is sharply focused rather than your point of focus, the you have evidence of front focus or back focus.

Nothing fancy is needed at all for this test...a row of books on the shelf is an ideal start. Simply line up the outer binding of all the books, then proceed to push/pull the subsequent book in 1/4 inch increment, and then focus and shoot the lot!

I once did the printed chart test, and the outcome seemed to indicate backfocus. But in shooting real items, I could see no evidence of the backfocus!

Just go out and take real world photos. If they look good to you then no test is needed. Most out of focus photos are caused by user error and not equipment problems.
