^ This. Regardless of whether it is an authorized dealer or not.

At this price, you can sell the lens for ~$800 and you have a brand new 5DIII for $2700.

I don't think I would do either at the moment. Cameta currently sells them for $3039 body only. No issues with warranty or resale value down the road.

Any idea which one of the Crooklyn unauthorized dealers this is? They change their names so frequently on eBay I can't keep up with them.

Big Value Inc isn't a scam company and they provide the products they sell. The only scam or dishonestly is claiming that products have US warranty when they aren't even an authorized retailer.

That alone makes them a scam company, lying about the product being offered is a scam IMO. Also, sales on eBay make it hard to pull the B&S rpitome. many other B&S artists have come and gone on eBay.

Big Value may be delivering products on eBay now (but still lying about the USA warranty) (it's not a Canon USA warranty)...but it's worth noting that the company is an off-shoot of a long-standing bait and switch company, Broadway photo.

If you don't mind getting a grey-market camera that Canon may or may not service should it ever need warranty work, then going through Big Value may be worth it to you. As for me, no way am I ever going to buy something from them.

I don't think the cameras are gray market. They are US but doesn't qualify for warranty since they are not authorized dealers. I'm writing a guide about this whole warranty issue. As per Canon...

All professional products sold via Canon USA authorized resellers are covered by a comprehensive product warranty. These warranties provide support should an unexpected problem occur due to a manufacturer's defect. To review the terms of individual product warranties, please click on the links below for details on the coverage provided for each product.

As fro gray market items, this is the meaning of gray market...

What is gray market items you ask? Gray market items are products that were imported into the country from another country. The price is considerably less than most other resellers would charge. Gray Market items are not designed to be sold in a particular market and cannot be supported by the authorized importer because they may not meet mandatory safety and certification codes. Because these items are not designed for a particular market they may not function properly, or the authorized importer may not be equipped to provide service, support or software. If you have a problem with a gray market item, you'll have to send it back the reseller or importer for warranty claims. Doing this will cost a lot and longer wait time due to shipping overseas.

To me, non-authorized sellers get their product from a distributor or warehouse who gets it from Canon directly or from Canon's authorized distributors. It's like a chain/tree effect.

In the auction, the Canon USA Warranty is a link. This link takes you to Canon's online repair site. It asks you to enter camera information to ESTIMATE cost of repair. If it was a true Canon warranty, you wouldn't be submitting information for an estimate if its free the first year.

Have you purchased anything from them? If they are indeed a continuation of Broadway Photo their past MO was definitely grey market gear.

I haven't personally purchased from them. I have friends who have and based on what people have provided on the web and pictures.

I've seen listings by them stating its US and some stating its gray market items. If they were selling gray market items and stating it has US warranty, that's false advertisement.

Perhaps you may want to do some more research on their operation. I have never dealt with them but their MO in the past was selling import gear with manuals in Japanese with poor photocopied English manuals. I've done some checking and bps is correct, this is Broadway Photo and there is extensive information about their tactics on the 'net.
