Hello all,

Here is a photo from my own wedding. I dont know what the "pro" was thinking. I do like the setup of the shot just hate the floor and background. Basement of the church... ohh how beautiful  Do you think I could at least replace the color on those surfaces? If so how? I know i saw a tutorial on doing this but now I cant remember how. Any other ideas. He ended up giving me the negs and rights, so do what you like with this to help me. I really appreciate this.

Thanks,
Drew

This was one of the photos he charged you for?
He should be flayed.
The bride is beautiful, of course. The shot stinks.
You could change that gorgeous linoleum tile for something else, and maybe the nice bifold doors, and the walls, light fixture and it's shadow, and . . . .
All that is left is the bride, and she has no feet.

First I could not get any reprints out of the guy. Then after bugging him forever he says he will sell me the negs for $2 a piece. I finally told him to save the album and 12 8x10s he owed us and just give me the negs. He agreed. I have since scanned all the med format negs. Its the only shot of her and her parents (without me) Pre-ceremoney section of the album is what I have thought might work. We got hosed (very fitting phrase once you read on)! We knew the guy as being a "good guy". He is on the city fire dept (get the hosed part now :) ) and was at a fire the entire night before our wedding. He really did not take many shots. I suppose we was exhauted from the night. Regardless, he should not have accepted being scheduled the night before and therefore letting us down. We saw his sample albums before we signed him and thought his work was great. Thankfully I had bought a ton of Kodak Porta NC and gave it to two friends who shot a lot of great photos. I also gave my 10D and gear to someone else who also did a great job. In fact, she had never used an SLR and with it set to auto she did awesome! I am so glad I made my own back-up plan.

It sounds like you are covered then. Too bad about her parents though.

Unfortuatley everyone I had photograph was partial to my friends and family. I had not thought about that part.

I would PS every person out of that picture onto a nice field in summer. Just kidding. Start slow, remember to save periodically and go for it! I take wedding pictures for friends. I have a standard set of group shots that always include 1. whole group, 2. bride's family, 3. groom's family, 4. parents with party, etc. Sorry you didn't get those kids of pictures because sometimes, it's nice to have that variety.

What an awful shot! Flaying is too good when he's spoiled a one off occasion.

I'd take the neg, do a good quality scan then make an abstract. I've had a little play hope you don't mind

To get an effect like Dave did, You need to select the part of the image you want to keep, & I'd use a layer mask for the rest.

Thanks for all the help. I like what you have done.

Here is what I did of just her... a simple mask job.

I did not try the same thing with the first posted photo since the flat black messes with the depth of the photo.

Wow! I am so amazed. I've never tried that before. I've only taken pictures in good backgrounds so this is really wonderful. Congrats. I'm going to look in my PS tonight!
