Levina, interesting shot. The woman may be carrying a magazine, but the photo on it looks like herself when younger.

INteresting thought OhLook!.. and I does look that way
Levina, no matter the subject, I love to see views of Amsterdam. I looked at the EXIF and it looks like everything was "right"..

Yes! I thought it was so striking: the lady with that magazine and the pic on it reflecting what could be a younger version of herself. Just a great kind of mirroring if that is the correct word in English. Normally I would trash a shot like that as she is not in focus, but I can't bring myself to do that. It's just too striking. No other word for it.

The exif may be alright, Jo, but this is a manual focus lens and I had just bought it and went to Dam Square where I sat down on a bench, mounted it on the 5D and was checking it out: focus ring, aperture ring and distance scale when she walked by. No time to do anything. What a pity. Oh well...

It still came out nice, Levina. I have learned to like my less than stellar shots because if I didn't have them at all I would be sad. Lots of my busy grandkid shots are not quite up to par but nobody here seems to notice (or care) so all is well. :)

We become our strongest critics the more we shoot and learn

I am so itching to shoot .... Not really cleared to carry my gear. :p
I am still super tippy and I can't stand to wear a shoe on my left foot :)
I'm still growing nerves and it is really exciting ..
I know why small children throw their shoes out the car window
LOL

LOL, Joayne!

Last year I was as busy as all get out with photo shoots in December. this year, they are just a trickle, yet I am happy to have a little break so I can get my holiday shopping & baking done. We have a big party here every Christmas Eve. I have one more shoot this weekend & then I am done for a couple of weeks. I have 2 newborns due in February, hopefully before we go to Maui for a week. :)

But great to hear you are making progress, Jo. 'Growing nerves' wow! It actually does sound exciting.

I still can't see it - how weird?

I went to the Natural History Museum today - primarily to see the Wildlife Photographer of The Year exhibition - some beautiful shots there, although I have to say I find it hard to believe the under 10s can carry a DSLR and a 300m 2.8 and a tripod through a bog LOL! ho hum…

Here's some of my museum shots:

I love museums! Nice shots, Penel. I have hundreds from the Louvre, The Museum of Natural History in New York, The Getty in Los Angeles, The Vatican, L'Academia in Florence & many others. I am definitely a museum junkie!!

Hehe, well there are a few good ones so, she'll be able to get the christmas card. But I promised to do another shoot in the near future...

I really should take more pictures, perhaps selfies. I need to get a white sheet :p

I did get myself a Danbo, that little thing is soo cute.

I took this shot a while ago. I had just bought the Pallas Magenta 28mm f/2.8 (an old vintage lens) and was sitting on a bench at Dam Square, fiddling with the focus ring when this lady walked by. There was no time to do anything, so I just pointed the camera and took the shot. Such a pity that the focus is off, especially on her face, but I like this shot so much that I'm posting it anyway.
