Levina, I print my own pictures, mainly for scrapbooking. But I also update or add to my hall of photos where my kids/grandkids pictures are. In my family room I have a smattering of all our travels printed on canvas. The wall is big so it holds quite a collection.

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

Penel, I don't think anyone can drive thru that tree anymore. I don't even remember where it is. Sometimes we go up a few times a year but we realized we didn't get up to the trees at all in 2013 so starting the year out with a trip was great. It is only 39 miles away but takes an hour due to the uphill drive.

Hi Angela :D

I must look out my photos of the trees from when we were there Maureen. I wasn't really into photography then although I did have a Canon AE1 Program, my first SLR.

Some of these photos are great although I prefer the wilder ones - don't like the set ups.

Hi Angela. Welcome to the thread! :)

Penel, Edwin Kats is a great Dutch nature photographer. I bookmarked him some time ago. He has a blog and I'm always looking out for a new entry, but he doesn't update it very regularly. He was in Iceland and Poland this year and has some amazing photographs on his site from the trips.

There is a tree you can drive through in Northern California, kind of along the coast. I don't remember exactly where we were at that point, I'd have to look it up, but small cars could drive through it.

Hi all and Happy New Year. Not been around for a while - got a new horse and Christmas happened, mother's 80th birthday and a few days in the New Forest to recover from all of the above! Plus the absolutely foul weather we are having here - if they ever say in the next decade we have a drought I know they will be lying. It only stops raining for the pleasure of starting again!

Penel, those pictures you linked to are pretty neat.

I was out looking for birds of prey when I spotted these.

Sorry but I can't get anything in focus when it's that far away.

Something a little closer.

ooh you lucky thing. Even to see a coyote and a bobcat - wow. Lovely.

I'm lucky to see a fox and a few roe deer ;)

Thanks, Penel. The coyotes are pretty easy to spot, but they're usually pretty far away. The bobcats are way harder to come by. I always get excited when I see a bobcat. :)

Old Man Winter is upon us with all his might. Had a significant snowfall yesterday and overnight, now we have high winds and cold, cold temps. Hitting -25C tonight, which isn't as cold as it could be, but we're still at 67% humidity.

Driving becomes an adventure when we get snow and wind together. Living out in the country means having to deal with bad driving conditions. I took a video of my trip down the sideroad this evening. Definitely not a drive recommended for cars!

I couldn't stand that weather, Melody. I lived in Burlington, Vermont for 2 years and remember when it hit 32 below...... I thought I was going to die! :)

Joayne: Here is a lovely shot of our valley air as we came down the mountain the other day. Yuck!!

Love the bobcat!
I've got a ghost shot of a mountain lion
I was so stunned to see it I could barely move
And when I took the shot it was on the move...

Nice coyote too. Good day out

Sorry I can't recall where the drive thru tree is either
Last time in the redwoods was maybe 2005 .. I had a 28-135 and wasn't too sure of my shots ;)
