Old Man Winter is upon us with all his might. Had a significant snowfall yesterday and overnight, now we have high winds and cold, cold temps. Hitting -25C tonight, which isn't as cold as it could be, but we're still at 67% humidity.

Driving becomes an adventure when we get snow and wind together. Living out in the country means having to deal with bad driving conditions. I took a video of my trip down the sideroad this evening. Definitely not a drive recommended for cars!

great video. You are lucky in the US that you have such big wide roads. When we get snow here in the UK it's ridiculous as our roads are so narrow they quickly become impassable.

I had a play around with some gel things on the 2nd speed light that lights the background paper today - it didn't work quite as planned and I'm not sure why yet. You can see it just lit the bottom RH corner in this shot.

I was trying to sort out this motion blur / ghosting thing, but helpfully (not!) Morris decided to pose very beautifully in all the shots and wouldn't do any 'big shakes' - I did get one yawn though which is quite nice.

Penel.. Hysterical !!
Where are you placing your gels?
Looks like a lot of light leaked..
Great shots all in all.. Made me laugh out loud

Mo..that is downright awful!
We can get bad here depending on the wind and humidity
The green color.. yuck

Got you 5D3 back?
what was the problem?

How's the color set up on your new printer
How's the new 5D3? LOL

OK..got cleared by the Coflex Implant Doc yesterday
We shook hands, I said Thank You Very Much and we said Good Bye
(I suppose that means I have to get back to house work, yard work and grocery shopping.. All those chores I've escaped for 9 months!!)

Still to get clearance from the Neuro-Spinal Surgeon She is a stickler!!

Mel..fun video! Loved the background music ;)

My 5DIII came back with a new shutter & an electrical repair of the ISO sensor. I took some shots today with it and the 300mm + 1.4 teleconverter (first time). I know the lens isn't a portrait lens but I used it on my active dog to see how it might fare with the whales for our Maui trip next month & it did a good job.

Joayne, I am going to Hemet in the morning for 4 days. Are you close by?

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

BTW, I am happy enough with my new printer. It isn't the stellar look I got from my Epson 2400 Stylus but it will be fine. I am taking the Epson to a repair place in San Bernardino in the morning on my way to Hemet & see what it might take to fix it.

Crazy baby is teething & everything looks good to him :) But I wanted to show you what the 300 f/4 lens + 1.4 teleconverter can do on the 5DIII. Not too shabby.....

I sent you my cell number, Joayne. Not sure if I can get out of the house with my mom's dementia but I would love it if you drove over. Maybe I can get another sister to come stay with mom & we could go out to the birds together. If not, there are tons of hummingbirds that live in my mom's backyard as well as lots of others; my sister feeds them like crazy :)

Mo, I took care of my Moms for 8 years after my Dad passed.
Sitting in the backyard sounds fabulous
I'll bring the brand new 7D that is still in the box
Got a good deal with extra stuff ..

Ill enter the bird place into the GPS, but I'm still on a short leash for walking
May have a limp for life, but I'll need more practice with it before I can go far ;)

We can work this out

Wow, you two. How wonderful that you can meet like this!
Have you met before?
Oh, I too would love to sit with you two in that backyard, watching the Hummingbirds.
And Joayne, the thing that matters most is that you can walk and move around and take care of yourself and do things, and to me it sounds you're very much on your way towards all that - if you're not there already -, limping or not.

Penel, great shots. Funny and so well taken.

That's a tough drive for Maureen!

Levina, Mo and I have never met face to face
I've met Belmondo. He just lives down the road

Well I'm off to physical therapy ..
No pain, no gain!

Ooh that's exciting you're going to meet. Have fun ladies.
Feel sorry for those of you having dreadfully cold weather - ours is still soggy!
Thanks for the nice comments on my pics!

PS: got here in 4 hours time, Joayne. Idiot drivers going below the speed limit in the fast lane where some of us want to go a bit faster.... I need a tool on my car to push them over into slower traffic. Grrrrr.
