Both shots are lovely but the shot of the deer is so artistic. It looks like it could be framed over a mantle or on the front page of "Outdoor Life". Beautiful! Thank you for your compliment on my grandson. They grow so quickly. :)

Thank you. It was a bit different from my normal deer shots and I liked that. :)

Stina, I love how all the colors in the bird shot are the same yet that little bird stands right out. My 300mm lens is off to the shop; it works fine but the hood (which is built in) has stripped from the tightening wheel so it needs to be repaired because it drives me nuts! I keep think about selling my 85/1.2 lens and put the money towards a 400mm lens.......

Thank you, Maureen and good luck with the lens decision.

10 days from now will be the start of a new chapter in my life. Starting full-time work at a local, independent shop. I have known the owner for several years now, and he's been on the lookout for a job possibility for me. On Monday he sent me a message and asked if I would consider being the service manager at his shop. I went and talked to him today and worked out a plan. It's not the path that I had imagined taking, I love being a mechanic, but I need full time work. And it should be a good fit for me.

Way to go Melody!!

Well, the fall colors are FINALLY starting to poke out here. Went out last weekend and the colors were so-so. But I couldn't resist getting a few shots of Mt Katahdin. Thought I would share.

Did anyone get any shots of the Eclipse?

I got some, they're not great, but here are a couple.

Melody! Great news regarding the job! Sometimes career paths don't go the way we expect, and often take us places we never thought we would go!
And sometimes it's a great thing! :p

On the other note, I read about you late night experience and agree, you were most likely the best person to come upon the scene. It must have been disturbing however. Hope you're doing ok.

Yes, I did get some eclipse shots.. Here's a thumbnail:

It certainly is not the path that I saw myself taking, especially so early in the game. And I told the owner that. But he seems quite sure that it's the right spot for me. I've known him for several years, through the church. He simply asked me if I was interested in the position. Pay is significantly higher than what I was getting at Ford, the hours will be better, I don't think they're open on weekends, and the respect level should be appropriate. I am looking forward to the possibility of having both some spare money and the time to do something with it.

As for last night, I'm doing alright so far. I didn't get to sleep till after 5 am, and then woke up just after 9. It wasn't great sleep either. I knew that that would probably happen. The fatality itself isn't bothering me too much. The circumstances, how things played out, is unsettling. Just getting there 5 minutes earlier could have afforded a better outcome. But that's not something I had any control over.

Melody, what's your opinion of the 2.3 ecoboost version of the Mustang? Am thinking of importing one early next year.

Specifically, I don't know it. I left Ford before the 2015 Mustang got to dealers.

The 3.5L ecoboost in the F150s is not a great engine. Fuel economy is not what it should be, the turbos are not without problems, and it's simply a very dirty engine. Even a new engine would have very black oil at it's first oil change.

The ones that they had in the Fusions seemed to be better, but they were newer. I did get to take the first Fusion we got in out for a test drive. That was a lot of fun!

Great news Melody. I agree with Joayne, sometimes the best things in life are from paths we normally wouldn't have considered.;-)a

Nice fall pictures, Barb! We are waiting for summer to end here, maybe by the end of the month. In the meantime, we are heading over to Monterey at the end of the week for a day long boat trip out on the bay before the humpbacks head out to Central America for the winter. Tomorrow I am off to photograph a baby's first birthday (my 3rd one this month!) & with the Federal Holiday on Monday, I will have a little break from kids & only have Ella 2 days this week. She is so cute but very clingy with me & screams if I walk away from her. I am hoping she gets over that soon as I get very little done when she is here.

I did not get any supermoon shots as it was very overcast here; Joayne, your time lapsed capture is impressive!!
